It’s been a busy month at EPI-HAB! In addition to its $5,000 gift to Ryan House at the beginning of April, several “Six Decades of Service” donations were made to worthy causes over the past couple of weeks.
Donation 1: Lura Turner Homes Summer Camp Tuition
First, EPI-HAB paid the Lura Turner Homes (LTH) summer camp tuition ($1425) for our three employees who are also LTH residents.
At EPI-HAB, we provide meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with epilepsy and other challenges. Typical work focuses on hand labor skills, and all employees are paid at or above minimum wage.
LTH provides a safe, enriching and loving environment for adults living with disabilities in the Phoenix area. The organization emphasizes a family-like atmosphere, encourages the development of a strong, positive work ethic, and offers recreational activities and community involvement opportunities to its residents.
Over the years, LTH has developed a strong relationship with EPI-HAB, providing our organization with several employees as well as a board member.
Donation 2: Cops for Kids
EPI-HAB also presented a $600 donation (a Silver Level sponsorship) to the Maricopa County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5’s 2018 “Cops for Kids” event.
For many children, there’s no greater thrill than sitting in a cop car. Through “Cops for Kids,” youngsters with physical or mental disabilities get the special opportunity to rub elbows with the area’s law enforcement and check out police vehicles and equipment up close.
The mission of the event aligns with EPI-HAB’s commitment to Phoenix’s special needs community.
Donation 3: Techie Camp Tuition
And last but not least, EPI-HAB presented $1,000 to AZ Strut, a long time customer, to be put toward Title 1 student tuition to the organization’s “Techie Camp.”
At camp, students learn to tear down a laptop computer, reassemble it and configure it. The best part about “Techie Camp” is that every camper gets to take the functional laptop they’ve been building home with them. EPI-HAB’s donation will fund the tuition for 50 students who are unlikely to have a computer available at home.
EPI-HAB’s “Six Decades of Service Celebration”
To commemorate 60 years in business, EPI-HAB is donating a total of $60,000 to local nonprofits in the coming months. We are well on our way to our goal, having already made “Six Decades of Service” donations to several organizations, including Lura Turner Homes, The Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA , Lions Camp Tatiyee and Ryan House.
Want to follow EPI-HAB’s journey to $60K? The recipients and the purpose of the “Six Decades of Service” donations will be showcased within blogs, email marketing and EPI-HAB’s social media pages as the gifts are given.
